Members of the Campaign for Real Ale are divided into groups we call "branches" in order to give a local focus. These groups make awards to the best of their pubs, to honour our most enterprising licensees and give recognition to the best of our pubs. For details of the best pubs in your area, click below........ Of course, we are not the only people who value the care of a good licensee. Our local brewers are equally appreciative of the efforts of those hard working individuals who look after the beer and serve it to you in that Great British Institution, the pub. Robinson's of Stockport hold an annual Best Kept Cellar Competition. In recent years, this has been an area of consistent success for the King William in Wilmslow. Billy and Denise Parkin have been placed four times in four years, with a first, a second and two thirds. The "King Billy" is not far from the railway station on the old A34. From the traffic lights at the Grape & Grain, head north, down the hill. The pub is on your left, virtually on the roundabout. It has a car park. Pop in and sample the Hatters and the Best Bitter from the hand pumps. Always on fine form. Another Robbies pub in the news is the Ring o' Bells in Marple. Murray and Marjorie Johns have scooped the northern regional title in a competition to find the country's top licensees. They will now go on to the national final. |
